Bohinj offers holidays for every taste and every tourist
Bohinj Valley with Slovenia's largest natural fresh water lake, Lake Bohinj, is located in Triglav national park, the heart of Julian Alps. This natural pearl of wild and unspoilt nature can be a perfect destination for all the lovers of outdoor activities, water and winter sports, fishing, horse riding, paragliding, mountaineering, cycling and much more. The place offers endless adventure opportunities. It can be a perfect starting point for hiking, as the whole area is intercepted with countless hiking trails that lead to many nearby peaks, even the Sloveniaˈ s highest mountain, a 2864 m high Mount Triglav. The gondola will take you to Mount Vogel, where you can enjoy the stunning view of the valley and the lake. In winter, Vogel is a famous skiing resort, with exclusively natural snow.
There are quite a few events happening in Bohinj area throughout the year. One of the most famous ones is the annual Kravji bal (Cow Ball), that takes place on the third weekend of September. Held in Bohinj since 1954, the event celebrates the return of local shepherds and their cattle, after a summer of grazing high up in the pastures of the Julian Alps. The festivities start on Friday evening with tours of Bohinj' s local dairies and regional museum, followed by a night of folklore performances, village skits and traditional music in the village of Stara Fužina. On Saturday it continues with a recreational cycling marathon through the surrounding mountains. On Sunday the main event takes place in the village of Ukanc, where the shepherds and cows make their triumphant return. The all-day party with folk music, brass bands, an accordion orchestra, folklore performances and much more, begins at 10:00.
Besides the mentioned one, there are many more traditional events worth seeing. If you are visiting in time, you can visit their Summer Music Festival, Cheese & Wine Festival, Wild Flower Festival, Kanal Festival, Hiking Festival, Fishing Festival, Steelmen Triathlon, Rural Wedding in Bohinj, Vasovanje, Bo Fejst, Midsummer night in Bohinj, The Ironworks Festival and many other sports, cultural, and entertainment events.
Pri hrvatu, Pizzeria Pr'Kosnik, Restavracija Majerca or Pr' Pristavc are famous by their good food and moderate prices. If you wish to try a typical local cuisine, there is a restaurant Strud'l, Gostilna Danica, Pension Resje Restaurant or Gostilna Rupa. If you are searching for a place that will serve you a good lunch, you should look for a Restaurant Triglav Bohinj, Koča na Vojah, Picerija Ukanc or Pri Hrvatu, while there are also some bars like Foksner, Na Rju or Hideout Cafe Bohinj, that offer some cheap eats, to help with the hunger attacks during the day.

There are two camps that are open even in winter, which is a good news for all the camp lovers. Camp Zlatorog off-season opening hours are adapted to the needs and number of guests, while Camp Danicaˈ s reception hours adjust to the requirements during the off-season.
